China Mobile subsidiary MIGU obtain digital live streaming rights to 2018 FIFA World Cup

Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has agreed a sponsorship deal with NHL ice hockey franchise the Ottawa Senators. The deal comes after Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson’s visit to Huawei’s Beijing research and development center on November 17.
The deal sees the Chinese company become the official smartphone supplier to the team for the next two seasons. The agreement includes rink board branding and in-game advertising during fixtures broadcast in Canada by TSN, as well as other activities and promotions.
The deal was announced to coincide with the launch of the new NEXUS 6P Android phone, manufactured by Huawei, which was launched this past week in stores across Canada.
“As China’s leading global brand and a company with strong ties to the Ottawa community, this partnership with Huawei represents a unique opportunity for the Senators,” said Cyril Leeder, president of the Ottawa Senators. “Huawei becomes the first Chinese corporation to partner with the Senators, which we see as an important step for our organization as our brand continues to become an ideal fit for international business. In particular, our national reach and portfolio of promotional properties have allowed our business to experience major growth in the technology sector.”
“Today is an exciting day for Huawei Canada and for all of our Ottawa employees,” said Sean Yang, president of Huawei Canada. “Our partnership with the Ottawa Senators reflects our commitment to the City of Ottawa and the value we place on being an important part of Ottawa’s business and technology community.”
The financial terms of the deal have not been revealed.
