Chinese soccer player and former Manchester City star Sun Jihai is expected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at UK’s National Football Museum during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s 5-day official visit to the country, according to Manchester Evening News and Xinhua News Agency.
Having been appointed the Club Ambassador of Manchester City earlier last month, Sun Jihai is reported to accompany Mr. Xi to the induction ceremony.
Xinhua, Chinese news state agency, revealed President Xi could be in attendance when Sun receives this prestigious accolade to English soccer’s Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Patrick Vieira and Michael Owen.
As the first ever Chinese player of Manchester City, Sun joined the club in 2002 and had made over 130 appearances in the English Premiere League before returning to the CSL in 2009.
