Learning from Britain is one part of China's overall plan to boost football. The country has laid out an ambitious blueprint intended to enhance players' skills and the national team's performance.
For starters, it is changing China's football management system. It has been decided that the Chinese Football Association will soon terminate its affiliation with the General Administration of Sport of China, to become independent from the government's administrative structure.
The grand goals include developing the Chinese Football League into one of the top domestic circuits in Asia, and raising the men's national team to become one of the region's leading powers. On the women's side, the target is to return the national team to a world-class level
And in the long-term, China will look to bid to host the FIFA World Cup, and have the men's national team qualify for both the World Cup and the Olympics.
On the education front, the plan aims to expose about 2.2 million children in five thousand primary and secondary schools to three hours of soccer a week.
