Juventus were afforded an incredible reception by their Chinese fans during a Meet & Greet event organized by Official Sponsor Jeep in Shanghai on the afternoon of August 6.
Hard work on the training ground for Saturday’s Italian Super Cup final with Lazio is naturally the main focus of the week, but the Bianconeri also found time to enjoy an hour with their passionate fan base in the Far East.
A crowd of approximately 200, made up of Jeep clients, fans and journalists, welcomed captain Gigi Buffon and his team-mates up on stage, called out one by one by compere Lou Yichen.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Buffon said: “China is a wonderful country and we’ve been afforded an amazing welcome by the fans. The difference between Beijing and Shanghai? It depends on how Saturday goes. If we win, it would be another great memory.”
Cheered on by an adoring local public singing Juventus chants in Italian, the team were set a challenge of writing their names in Chinese before ending an enjoyable afternoon by practicing penalties with a few lucky supporters.
Italian Super Cup is being played in China for the fourth time. It is the first time the match is held in Shanghai and Beijing hosted the event three times.
