United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) announced on July 20th it had purchased the titling right of Hong Kong Open of Asian Golf Tour again, which boasts the longest history among all the sports events in Hong Kong.
UBS sponsored the Hong Kong Open from 2005 to 2012. Three years after ending this eight-year relationship, the bank recently signed a multi-year deal with the organizers to fully support the event again.
Thanks to the title sponsor UBS, the prize money of the event had been raised from 700, 000 dollars to 2.75 million dollars during 2008-2012. This year the return of UBS brings a boost in prize money again, from 1.3 million dollars to 2 million dollars.
Mega Events Fund of HKSAR Government which helped support the staging of the Hong Kong Open in 2011 and 2012 will also continue to assist in bringing the event to fruition.
The 57th Hong Kong Open will be held in Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling from October 22nd to 25th.
