Oman Air has been named the official airline partner of the Extreme Sailing Series.
The news was confirmed as Act 3 of the 2015 series began in Qingdao, China on Thursday, with Oman Air partnering with OC Sport, the Extreme Sailing organisers, as part of its mission to expand its network into China.
"It is especially significant to make the announcement in China, which will become our 49th destination as we continue to invest in our fleet and expand our network," cinfirmed Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, Oman Air's chief operating officer.
“The sport of sailing provides an exciting platform to gain global exposure, share the Sultanate’s unique heritage and hospitality with the world and promote our award-winning services."
Oman already has strong links to the series, which pioneered the concept of close-to-shore 'stadium sailing'. Oman Air and Omani resort The Wave are existing team partners, while Oman's capital, Muscat, hosts an annual regatta.
