International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is set to renew the a three-year deal with Shanghai on Diamond League till the year of 2018, reported on April 29.
According to Shanghai IAAF Diamond League Committee, China’s State Administration of Sports will held a brief retirement ceremony for Liu Xiang, Chinese hurdle hero, in May when 2015 Shanghai IAAF Diamond League takes place.
Liu Xiang, who announced his retirement three weeks earlier, will be invited to attend the event as a distinguished guest.
His trainer, Sun Haiping, told the media that Liu would officially show up at the Shanghai Diamond League to announce his retirement.
In terms of the IAAF Diamond League, over several dozens of Olympic champions and world champions have competed in this event in Shanghai for the past ten years, leaving deep impressions on tens of millions viewers across China.
On May 17, people will be able to enjoy the joyfulness of the Diamond League event and also to witness the retirement ceremony of legendary Liu Xiang.
