On August 15, iQiyi Sports disclosed that they will exclusively stream the 2019-20 LaLiga football season in China.
The 2019-20 season of the Spanish football league will begin on August 17. Other than streaming 380 LaLiga matches that will be played over the season, iQiyi Sports will also create original content around the Spanish league, and will constantly provide match information, hot news and information about the games. They will also launch an official channel for FC Barcelona, providing more exclusive videos about the football club.
Top football leagues have always been a focus of iQiyi Sports, the Spanish LaLiga in particular. With the highly rated Espanyol Chinese player Wu Lei entering his second season in the Spanish league and holding the attention of Chinese football fans, the exclusive streaming rights of LaLiga are expected to bring more users to their platform.
iQiyi have worked with LaLiga to recruit well-known actor Ni Dahong, as well as musicians and TV commentators to help increase the reach of their partnership.
As an influential online sports streaming platform, iQiyi Sports have grown significantly since it was established last August. As of now, it has acquired 30 influential Sports IP’s, together with the streaming rights of over 6000 sports events, and more than 200 sports documentaries.
