Future of Sport: A Global Sports Week x Viva Technology Collaboration, Will Open in June 14

On January 8 the General Administration of Sport of China and the National Bureau of Statistics of the People’s Republic of China released statistics of the Chinese sports industry’s value for the year 2017. The report shows that both the overall output and the added value of the industry had increased compared to 2016.
The 2017 overall output of the sports industry is CNY2.2 trillion, 15.7% higher than 2016, and the overall added value is CNY781.1bn, 20.6% more than 2016.
The manufacturing of sporting and relevant goods sector still accounts for the largest share of the overall output, reaching CNY1.35092 trillion for output and CNY326.46bn for added value, which is respectively 12.9% and 14% more than 2016.
The sports services sectors which includes all sectors except the manufacturing of sporting and relevant goods sector and the construction of sports venues and facilities sector, have continued to grow in terms of percentage in the overall industry output -- from 55% in 2016 to 57% in 2017.
Sports events and shows sector and the sports fitness and leisure activities sector have particularly demonstrated great growth -- 39.2% and 47.5% more than 2016 respectively.
As more sports facilities and infrastructures have been built in China, the construction of sports venues or facilities sector demonstrated clear growth as well -- 94.7% more than 2016.
