Chinese smart TV brand, Hisense has recently acquired the OTT broadcasting rights for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia from June 14 to July 15.
This will enable Hisense Smart TV users to watch live games through the internet without the need for a cable TV connection.
On Thursday, Chinese streaming platform Youku announced that it has obtained the rights to live stream, produce on-demand videos, and create match highlights for the 2018 World Cup on CCTV, the official broadcaster of the international football tournaments in China.
As a strategic partner of Youku Smart TV, Hisense was able to get the OTT broadcast rights to serve its users.
In addition to this, as a FIFA World Cup sponsor, Hisense also plans to work with CCTV to present High Dynamic Range (HDR) broadcasting to offer a more immersive live experience for viewers in the world’s most populous country.
According to an earlier report by Sam Carp of Sportspromedia, in January, Hisense also reached a strategic partnership with the US broadcaster, Fox Sports, to offer its customers access to coverage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
