Updates on May 24: The launch ceremony was held on May 22, where the price of the customized phones were announced-- CNY3,698. Home of FIFA will add these phones in their collection. The phones would be official phones for staff of the 2018 World Cup.
On May 16, FIFA’s official smart phone sponsor Vivo released posters of two customized 2018 FIFA World Cup phones through their Weibo account, announcing that the official launch ceremony of the phones would be held on May 22nd at the Beijing Olympic Forest Park.
The two Vivo X21 phones come in red and blue respectively. On the back of the two phones is the brand name Vivo and the “2018 FIFA World Cup” logo printed on a background of graphics. The design of the image is very characteristic of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and can be instantly recognized as being related to the event.
The original Vivo X21 includes two products and are retailing at CNY3,198 and CNY3,598 respectively on the Jingdong Vivo flagship online store. It is being marketed as a medium-high smart phone type.
The customized X21 World Cup phones are estimated to have slightly higher prices due to its special theme and limited edition.
In May 2017, Vivo became an official sponsor of FIFA until 2022. The partnership covers two editions of the FIFA World Cup in Russia and Qatar. In the official announcement of the partnership, it was written that Vivo would produce customized phones for the World Cup to offer a unique experience to football fans around the world.
