Chinese actor Zhu Yawen has recently been named as the new media ambassador to support CCTV for its broadcast of the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Zhu wrote in one of his Weibo posts, “Hello, everyone. I’m the new media ambassador of CCTV broadcast of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Are you ready? This summer, I’ll follow the event with all of you on Weibo.”
As a famous Chinese actor who has a large female fan base, Zhu is expected to engage many of his fans with CCTV’s broadcast of the event. At the same time, the 34-year-old will also share the highlights and happiness with others as a big fan of football.
In November 2018, CCTV acquired all media rights to broadcast FIFA events for the period 2018-2022 in mainland China, including the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 2019 Women's World Cup in France, the 2021 Confederations Cup and other major tournaments.
The Chinese network unveiled logos for partners of CCTV’s 2018 FIFA World Cup broadcast in March, following the announcement of the advertiser list in February.
