On April 24, Liverpool F.C. signed a deal with the Kunming Education Bureau, which will see the Premier League giant roll out a six-month youth coaching project covering 10 schools in the city.
Under the deal, Daniel Reece, head coach at the LFC International Academy in Liverpool, will oversee the project in Kunming, providing local coaches and players with access to professional football skills, training theories and coaching education clinics.
According to an official announcement by Liverpool, the project aims to develop the participants both on and off the pitch, encourage them to get active and improve their football skills, as well as improve their life skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership.
As Kunming Deputy Mayor Wang Jianying said, “The project is an important step for Kunming to deepen its education exchange and cooperation, introduce advanced education ideas and resources from abroad, and build an international city. The cooperation with Liverpool FC will also pave the way for more cultural and economic ties between the two cities.”
Liverpool legend and International Academy ambassador Ian Rush said, “We are extremely excited to be bringing the LFC International Academy to Kunming. The curriculum is based on the LFC Academy philosophy and practices; with an active and educational programme, that will provide excellent opportunities for local players and coaches in China.”
