Spanish Formula One (F1) racing driver Fernando Alonso attended a press conference in Shanghai on April 11, announcing the double World Champion’s major motives for coming to China. Apart from racing in this week’s 2018 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, Alonso announced details of his new partnership activities in China.
The first reason is the launch of the Alonso New Energy Karting Center and School. According to the exclusive report from the Chinese news website jiemian.com, Alonso will work together with 上海奕乾文化传播有限公司 (translated as Shanghai Yiqian Culture Communication Co., Ltd.) to set up 40 Karting centers around China in the next 15 years.
His second motive for coming to China is that Alonso will join forces with Tencent with Jiemian.com also reporting that the Tencent-operated mobile game Rocket League will reach an “overall partnership” with Alonso’s eSports racing team launched last year.
Apart from the two reasons, Alonso will reportedly unveil his fashion brand Kimoa to the Chinese market.
Fernando Alonso Díaz is a Spanish Formula One racing driver and double World Champion who is currently racing for McLaren Renault F1 team. He is often regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers in the history of the sport.
As of March 2018, Alonso is the only Spanish driver to have won a Formula One Grand Prix and is the driver with the sixth highest number of Grand Prix wins, with 32.
