On March 1, the Jilin municipal government of Jilin Province signed a strategic cooperation framework with the Yanqing District government of Beijing.
This move is a positive response to the ambitious national plan of “300 million people on the ice”, aiming to use their cooperation to serve the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. According to the terms of the framework, the two sides cooperate on areas regarding the winter sports industry, talent fostering and winter sports tourism.
Specifically, the pair will improve the construction of winter sports venues, co-host Chinese and international winter sports events and create self-made quality tournaments. They also have plans to set up several event clusters, introduce advanced equipment makers from other countries as well as establish bases for research and development of winter sports equipment.
Jilin City, based in northeast China, has a long history of winter sports, so it has established a huge professional talent pool. In their future cooperation, Jilin will work with Yanqing to provide more winter sports talents, along with developing a scientific fitness model to ensure better service for the country.
