One more Chinese city is showing its ambition in the sport of football. The municipal government of Jinan, Shandong Province, has launched an implementation scheme for a football reform project in the city.
According to the file, campus football will play an important role in Jinan’s football reform. The municipal government will develop 80 football-featured schools, 300 school teams and 500 school clubs over the next 3 years, with their goal being to engage between 30,000 to 50,000 students to participate in football training and play in competitions.
Alongside this development, football courses will be added to Jinan’s primary, middle and high school curriculums, with no less than one football lesson and 3 training sessions each week. Football skills will now act as an performance index in the new performance assessment system for Jinan’s students under the new reform adjustment undertaken by the education authority in the city.
To meet the football needs of the local residents, the municipal government will build new 5V5 pitches for football and futsal, as well as three to five large “football parks” for both youth training and recreational football sessions. Additionally a 53-hectare football training center will be built in Jinan, which will be used for daily training and football tournaments.
Other implementation measures such as the transformation of the municipal football association, the promotion of the football industry and culture and the investment mechanism for football development in the city are also mentioned in the file.
