The Shanghai-based airline, China Eastern Airlines, has become a sponsor of the Tour de France Skoda Shanghai Critérium 2017, which officially kicked off at the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower on October 28.
This is the first time for the race to be introduced in China, where two races, China Critérium and L’Étape China will be held accordingly.
Under the sponsorship deal, the airline will provide flight services for riders and their bicycles throughout the races in China. The Chinese carrier will host the world’s top riders including four Tour de France champions Chris Froome, as well as set up a China Eastern Airlines–branded track for the races.
China Eastern is expected to increase brand visibility during the races since it will be able to display its logo on the podium background plate along with the starting and finishing line arches and banners. In addition to this, the airline will also display its Boeing 777-300ER to engage fans on the spot.
