The China League One club Wuhan Zall has named former Everton midfielder as its new general manager and sporting director, while Wang Xiaosong, has become the club president and CEO.
Li was most recently named head coach of Chinese Super League (CSL) side Hebei China Fortune F.C. and assistant coach of the Chinese national team.
The club’s current majority shareholder, Wuhan Zall Development Holding Co. Ltd., has invested 500 million yuan earlier this year to support the club’s promotion to the CSL.
However, they have not achieved satisfactory results as the China League One is approaching its end of the season. That is why Wuhan Zall decided to adjust the club’s management.
The new club president Wang Xiaosong is also the CEO of the online travel agency Lvmama, a subsidiary of Joyu, one of the club’s major sponsors. Wang said at a news conference that he aimed to turn Wuhan Zall into a competitive professional football club in the next 5 years.
