On August 4, Tencent Sports is reported to have reached an agreement with MPS Group to obtain live streaming rights to the Ligue 1, Serie A, FA Cup and Scottish Premiership during the 2017-18 season. Currently holding rights to the UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga, it has almost obtained streaming rights for all the top European football tournaments.
As for Ligue 1, it is said that there will be a live broadcast of at least 6 Ligue 1 matches each round and 228 matches in a season; while for Serie A, there will be live broadcasts of all 10 matches each round and 380 matches a season; and for the FA Cup, Tencent Sports will select and broadcast 40 matches in the first five rounds, and provide full live broadcast starting from the quarter-final. Additionally, there will be live streaming of the Football Association Community Shield on Tencent Sports and QQlive, along with 55 Scottish Premiership matches on Tencent Sports during the 2017-18 season.
Apart from the live streaming rights, Tencent has also obtained non-exclusive new media rights of Serie A, FA Cup, Ligue 1 and Scottish Premiership in Mainland China, which means that football fans can not only stream these matches live, but also view highlights of all the matches in each round and over 10 documentary programs of each season on Tencent platforms.
