Chinese Basketball Association’s Beijing Ducks Basketball Club inked a contract with United States Basketball Academy (USBA) on June 28 in Beijing launching a new project called the “Eyas Project”. With the initial purpose of finding new basketball talent, this partnership and project will see Beijing Ducks select young teenagers from around China and send some of them to the US for further training.
According to Min Lulei, Beijing Ducks’ head coach and leader of Eyas Project, the first round of nation-wide selection process will be carried out between June 28 to July 12. This selection round will see 60 elite junior players selected for the camp after overall physical and technical assessments while 15 out of these 60 players will get the chance to go to the US for further training.
After the selection process, the USBA will provide these 15 players with a 9-month language course along with a series of basketball training courses and games. Gaining this long-term training and invaluable life experience will help these players to hopefully become professional basketball players and improve China‘s basketball competitiveness on the international scene.
