The Chinese Football Association (CFA) have announced on their official website that they will hold a series of tryouts from September to December 2017 with the purpose of selecting elite coaches and players to qualify China’s Olympic football team for Tokyo 2020.
According to the CFA, these tryouts will be divided into two phases. The first phase will take place as single-elimination games with the second phase being a single round-robin tournament. The 4 teams who qualify from the first phase will compete against each other for the title.
Regarding who participates in these tryouts, the CFA has asked all Chinese Super League (CSL) clubs and second-tier league China League (CFACL) to enter one team in this tournament. Division Two League’s (C2L) clubs and other amateur clubs can also participate in the tryouts, as long as each of them have a registered team to tryout.
