On April 28, a new Internet E-sports TV channel, ESPTV, was launched at a ceremony in Beijing. Those in attendance included representatives of TV stations from provinces and cities around China, who are in charge of the IPTV business, as well as people from organizations like China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and Tencent.
As reported by Stargame Media, a Chinese website which produces news and articles about Chinese video gaming and the E-sports industry, ESPTV is being launched by a company named “ESPTV E-sports World.” Following this ceremony, it is expected that ESPTV will go live soon.
ESPTV will be added to IPTV platforms of cooperative local TV stations. ESPTV will be operated just like the professional sports media. Moreover, ESPTV will connect with the real E-sports industry, so as to maximize the value of the E-sports market.
As for the content on ESPTV, there will be two parts to it – live-streaming content and on-demand content. Live-streaming content will include live matches and related analyses of top games such as League of Legends and King of Glory, as well as original content including interviews with E-sports stars, news of the E-sports industry, guidebooks for beginners and many more. On-demand content will include various matches, guides to games and other information related to E-sports.
