On January 9, the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) held a media briefing about its national convention and leadership transition meeting in Beijing, announcing that Yao Ming and Li Jinsheng, the Vice Chairman of CBA, would jointly lead the prepara-tion for the 9th CBA National Convention and Leadership Transition Meeting.
The CBA will hold its national convention and leadership transition meeting in March, and would elect the CBA’s 9th leadership group and national representatives.
Yao Ming disclosed in a low-profile manner that it was an honor to participate in the future development of Chinese basketball in such a new way, and he would do his best.
Recently, the General Administration of Sport had recommended that Yao Ming be the next Chairman of CBA.
At the briefing, Li Jinsheng emphasised that the next step of basketball reform would be to separate the Administration Center of Basketball from the CBA.
