HK Esports completes tens of millions of dollars in financing

According to reports on January 5, HK Esports (HKES) have announced that they have raised tens of millions of dollars in the Series A financing round. This round of financing is jointly invested by Autobot Capital Partners and Hong Kong investors.

“The capital raised in this round will be mainly used for extending HKES’s influence in the Asia-Pacific region, introducing talents to raise the level of teams and exploring and developing new businesses. In the future, HKES plans to expand the number of players to one hundred to cover all kinds of esports and advance the level of esports content”, said Derek Cheung, founder of HKES.

Founded in 2013 by Derek Cheung who is known as “Hong Kong’s Wang Sicong”, HKES is mainly dedicated to spreading esports culture in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. At present, the company’s businesses mainly include signing up esports teams, holding esports events and producing esports content. Company teams have more than 40 contract players. Esports content produced by the company has had 60 million plays across the world every month. HKES is also the host for many esports events like League of Legends, Hearth Stone and Overwatch in the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.
