On December 31, 2016, the first E-sports Competition and Management College in China, co-sponsored by LeSports, IASAC (the Internet Access Service Association of China), Beijing Open University and Beijing Huajia University, formally commenced enrolment, signaling the official launch of Chinese E-sports college education.
The college is located at the E-sports on-site training area near the Yanqi Lake in the Huairou District of Beijing. This enrolment is accessible to all Chinese citizens over the age of 17 with Vocational High School or High School Degrees, and it is estimated that it will recruit 300 students. The graduates will get both a nationally recognized college diploma and a professional training certificate. It is possible for the students with excellent performance in the college to get scholarships, financial aid and paid contracts. As for internship, the students will get the chance to work as interns with major national E-sports clubs, live streaming platforms and agencies during their college years, to improve their employment prospects.
At present, there are already over 0.3 billion E-sports players worldwide. As the largest E-sports market, China's E-sports players have reached 0.13 billion, and it’s estimated that the domestic market value will exceed RMB50 billion in the future.
