CMC Holdings have announced an RMB100 million (about US$15.07m) investment in the Series B funding of Cubee, a sports data company.
Cubee provides data services for various companies like Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, China Sports Media, Nike, Lesports and PPTV. The company has already launched its major product Soccer Cube, a mobile application that serves about 33 million users all over the world.
At a recent news conference, Cubee also announced the setting up of the Chinese Sports Data Alliance, which includes companies like China Sports Media, Whaley Technology, Shankai Sports, Super Sports Media Group, Deloitte China, Amisco China, Mathworks China, Northen Light Venture and Pingan Venture.
The Alliance aims to combine sports resources, sports data and sports capital to create a new business model in China.
“In my opinion, China needs the ‘big data plus sports’ model, and data will become the catalyst to create a revolution in the Chinese sports industry. ” said Xu Zhihao, President of CMC Holdings.
