Nubia Technology Co. Ltd., a Chinese smartphone maker, announced on May 20th that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has become their newest face.
The leaked screenshot posted on Sina Weibo by Nubia indicates the Chinese smart phone brand has appointed the Portuguese as their global brand ambassador. As part of Nubia’s global strategy, Ronaldo will help the brand establish their presence in the continents of Europe, North America and Africa.
Despite the fact that the terms of the deal were not released, Tencent reported the two parties signed a one-yea agreement for around €4 million. And Nubia has the option of renewing the contract.
The partnership between Nubia and Ronaldo marks another massive endorsement deal involving a Chinese phone brand after Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei signed Lionel Messi earlier in March.
Nubia recently invested RMB 150 million to Jiangsu Suning Football Club according to an official press release on the partnership.
