ZTE have announced their extensive sponsorship deal with Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, a Japanese baseball club, as their official smart phone partner. According to the agreement, ZTE’s logo will feature on Fukuoka’s training jerseys, which is an unprecedented new sponsorship deal in Japan’s baseball leagues.
As one of the first Chinese companies to carry out sports marketing strategies, ZTE have made a major impact across the US and Europe having already signed marketing deals with global sports franchises. In the North American market, ZTE have signed 4 NBA teams - Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets, as well as New Zealander Danny Lee, a professional golfer on the PGA Tour. ZTE also entered the European market by becoming the official technology partner of Sevilla FC, Borussia Mönchengladbach and the Copa del Rey in Spain. All of these deals allow ZTE to form a closer relationship with consumers around the world, which can only improve its global brand awareness.
