Li-Ning, a leading sport goods manufacturer in both China and Asia, has struck a sponsorship deal with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in August.
Under the agreement, Li-Ning will support the Indian Olympic team, of 150 officials and athletes, with apparel and equipment during the Olympics this summer. The deal is understood to be around US$375,000 to US$400,000, according to Indian media Express News Service. If the figure is right, the deal will go down as the largest deal in the history of the IOA.
The deal was brokered by Indian company IOS Sports, which sealed a deal with the IOA for branding and marketing rights.
Neerav Tomar, Marketing Director and CEO of IOS Sports, said “This is a huge deal and Li-Ning is a global brand.”
