Guizhou Renhe FC, formerly a Chinese Super League club and currently a China League one team, have relocated from Guizhou Province to China’s capital, Beijing, according to various media reports.
The move also sees the club change its name from Guizhou Renhe FC to Beijing Renhe FC Limited with Fengtai Sports Center as its home stadium.
The registration was finalized days before the upcoming New Year when a new dictum from CFA, the governing body of Chinese soccer, comes into force regarding all Chinese professional clubs. After that date there will be a ban on takeovers and relocations to different provinces.
In an early interview with local media in Guizhou Province, Gong Lei, the General Manager at the club, said “(The club) have been emotional about Guiyang over the last few seasons in the city. But the club has chosen to leave Guiyang in the interests of its long-term development, and there is little room for manoeuvre. (I) hope everyone understands this.”
