Chinese techonology giant Huawei has announced that it has agreed a deal to collaborate with Open Camp, a Sports Theme Park set to open in 2016.
The deal, signed at the Barcelona Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, where the theme park will be located, sees the Chinese company taking responsibility for providing mobile communication equipment, internet data and voice processing within the park. Huawei will also handle new products, as well as maintaining and improving the park's equipment.
Open Camp is set to be the world's first Sports Theme Park, and will offer visitors more than 50 virtual experiences linked to a wide variety of sports.
General Director of Open Camp Paco Medina said they were very happy to collaborate with Huawei. “The park goes more global, thanks to Huawei”, he stated.
Huawei’s Spanish vice-president Li Xiaoke stated that the collaboration strengthened Huawei’s strategy in sports environments.
Boosted by a range of new products and high profile sports sponsorships, Huawei has overtaken Sony, HTC and Motorla and become the second most popular Android brand in Europe behind Samsung.
