Luneng Group, a Shandong-based business group, held a press conference in the National Convention Center to announce a two-year strategic partnership with former soccer star David Beckham on Sunday.
Under the deal, the former England international will serve as an ambassador of Luneng Group. However no details of the partnership were revealed at the conference.
Beckham has high hopes for this partnership and “looks forward to visiting Luneng and working together to promote social and charitable programmes” in China.
David Beckham, as a renowned icon with huge global influence both on and off the pitch, is a great fit with Luneng Group’s developmental strategy because of his positivity and high sense of social responsibility.
In addition, Luneng hopes to demonstrate its ecological lifestyles fit with fitness, sports and entertainment through this partnership with Beckham.
Luneng Group’s portfolio includes the integrated development of coal alongside renewable energy and real estate, and is a current shareholder and the title sponsor of CSL side Shandong Luneng FC.
