Port Adelaide Football Club is on the hunt for a Mandarin-speaking commentator to call home games, as part of a push to break into the Chinese market, according to a news release on ABC website.
Port Adelaide's community general manager Andrew Hunter said the club's search for a caller was an attempt to make the game accessible to Mandarin speakers in Australia as well as Hong Kong and mainland China.
"We think it is really important to use the sport, to use football, to try and develop some intercultural exchange and try and reach out to the local Chinese community," Mr Hunter said.
Apart from the initiative, Port Adelaide Aboriginal Academy will travel to China to play an exhibition game. The Academy will play against China's national Australian Football team in an exhibition game. The match against Team China will be held in Guangzhou.
It will also participate in school visits, coaching clinics, a visit to the Great Wall and an official reception at the Australian embassy as part of a 10-day tour commencing on November 23.
