On August 21st, Oceans Sports claimed in a statement that LeTV infringed on its copyrights by record broadcasting the Guangzhou Evergande VS Bayern Munich match of the Volkswagen Cup 2015 Guangzhou without its permission. Oceans Sports reserves the right to pursue legal action.
The statement said that as the main host of the Volkswagen Cup 2015 Guangzhou, Oceans Sports owns the event’s complete media copyrights of the event in China while GDTV Sports, CCTV 5 and PPTV hold the rights to broadcast the event live. However Oceans Sports never authorized LeTV to broadcast the match live or record highlights.
Oceans Sports said it has already instructed its lawyer to send a letter to LeTV to ask for an explanation within specified time, but so far have not received a reply. It will file a lawsuit when necessary.
