NBA-Tencent cooperation officially started yesterday

‍‍The five-year cooperation between NBA and Tencent officially commenced yesterday, July 1. As a part of the cooperation, Tencent announced that they launched an official new website for NBA China. 

There are a PC website and a mobile version. The new website is the only official website of NBA in China and will provide a comprehensive range of contents for readers, including all 30 teams’ stats and products. 

Besides the website, Tencent will provide special basketball streaming to fans. They will stream an NBA game from the past at 9 am every day during this summer; and will launch an NBA program “NBA Legend” that captures brilliant moments of NBA stars in the league’s history, such as Jordan’s shoots. 

The cooperation is regarded as the biggest international digital media cooperation in NBA history. Tencent pays $5billion for this cooperation. As one of the three internet giants in China along with Alibaba and Baidu, Tencent’s cooperation with NBA is a strategic move it takes when as China is developing the sports industry.
