One of the most famous sports digital content companies in the world, Perform, is possibly conducting discussions with Chinese internet giant Baidu about developing the Chinese market.
The news was first released on Monday by a Chinese sports media, who was reported to have source in Baidu, and created strong reactions among Chinese sports professionals, especially on WeChat where the news was read for over 9,000 times and shared many times.
Baidu was one of three internet giants in China. The other two are Alibaba and Tencent. The three are called BAT together. Alibaba and Tencent have all made moves in the sport sector, with Alibaba investing in Letv Sports and Tencent forming a close tie with NBA by buying its internet broadcasting rights in the China region.
However, Baidu has been regarded as slow in reacting to the changes happening in sports industry in China, with no actions taken up to now.
It is said that Perform would work with Baidu to develop the Chinese market, and Baidu has a larger plan in sports with the digital content area being just a part of it.
