FIBA organized the first Partner Workshop for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on Tuesday-Wednesday, November 27-28, 2018 at the Wanda Reign on the Bund in Shanghai, China, before a China vs. Syria World Cup Qualifiers match took place in Baoshan Indoor Stadium on November 29, 2018.
The workshop which was supported by the China 2019 Local Organizing Committee and the Shanghai LLOC, was used as an opportunity to provide relevant information on preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
It included 16 sessions and 23 speakers, covering topics from the ongoing Qualifiers, the Competition Calendar, the Official Draw, Ticketing, Hospitality Program, Promotion Milestones, to TV Production & Broadcast, Market & Consumer Research, Digital Media, Venues, Rights Delivery, Branding, Licensing and Rights Protection.
Fifteen partners attended the workshop, including all eight of FIBA’s Global Partners (BG, Ganten, Molten, Nike, TCL, Tencent, Tissot and Wanda), two FIBA Global Suppliers (Connor Sports and Schelde), two FIBA Official Licensees (PPW and BSCD) and representatives of National Partners.
After the workshop, the attendees were invited to attend the World Cup Qualifiers match between China and Syria.
In the lead-up to the China vs Syria World Cup Qualifiers in Shanghai, the Shanghai subway Line 3 was decorated in a FIBA Basketball World Cup theme to market the competition.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held August 31- September 15 in eight Chinese cities.
