Serie A team Juventus F.C. has officially partnered with China Merchants Bank, with the commercial bank becoming an Official China Regional Partner and the Official Chinese Bank Partner of the football club until 2020.
This is the first time that China Merchants Bank has partnered with a football club. They will issue a Juventus-themed credit card which will be decorated with the Juventus club logo and an image of the team shirt in their club colors.. Credit card holders will receive special offers from the bank.
It is also understood that China Merchants Bank will provide more services in the future under the partnership with the credit card being the initial service rolled out.
A Juventus official Chinese news report quotes a representative of Juventus as saying that this is the fifth partnership they have signed with top Asian brands this year. To develop in the Chinese market is an important part of the club’s long-term strategy and this partnership with China Merchants Bank demonstrates it very well.
China Merchants Bank is a leading commercial bank in China that has both personal and corporate/investment banking services. It is one of the most widely used banks among the Chinese public. Juventus has certainly gained a bigger reputation and has received wider attention in China too after the Italian club signed Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. This collaboration between the two sides maybe a good chance for both to grow in this market.
