On June 1, the Sanya Government on Hainan Island and the Guoao Group officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. The Guoao Group is going to take part in developing Sanya’s sports, culture, tourism and rural areas to help to create a “culture + sports + tourism” industry landscape for the city.
Guoao Group will base its southern headquarters and the southern trading center of China Tourism Resources & Assets Trading Center in Sanya.
Sanya Government and Guoao Group will jointly build a sports center in Sanya, supporting the infrastructures around it alongside other cultural and sports facilities. They will aim to develop the sports and tourism industry by combining sports training, sports competitions and sports businesses.
The two parties will make joint efforts to establish southern national sports training bases to create a destination to meet the winter training demands of the Chinese national teams.
Guoao Group will introduce well-known international and national sports events to Sanya City, including the Women’s World 9-Ball Championship, Rugby World Cup Sevens, the Beach Rugby World Championship, the Ice Hockey World Championships, Le Tour de France China, Lei Ultra Trail, and the China Football College National Youth Football League.
In addition, Guoao Group will bring in youth training systems for football, rugby, ice-hockey and others while also setting up a number of youth training schools for football, rugby, ice-hockey, beach soccer, sailing, and water sports. The talents developed in these schools will have access to organizations such as the China Football College, Chinese Rugby Football Association and the Chinese Ice Hockey Association.
The Secretary of Sanya Municipal Party Committee, Yan Chaojun, said that “the Guoao Group was strongly welcomed to participate in the construction of the sports/culture industry and rural areas in Sanya. The government will provide support for the settlement of Guoao Group’s southern headquarters and hope that both sides start collaborating on the agreed projects as soon as possible.”
The chairman of Guoao Group Zhang Jingdong said: “Guoao Group have accumulated rich experience in funding and building large sports venues and operating sports events after being an important service provider to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Under the background of transforming Hainan into a national Free Trade Zone, Guoao Group will join forces with large scale state-owned enterprises to jointly advance the development of sports tourism, sports education and relevant sectors in Sanya.
Guoao Group is headquartered in Beijing and constructed the 2008 Beijing Olympic Village in the northern part of Beijing city. The group has many different business areas, including real estate, tourism, sports, education and others.
