On May 25, with only twenty more days until the 2018 FIFA World Cup kicks off, Suning-backed PP Sports officially signed a strategic cooperation deal with the News and Information Center of the Xinhua News Agency.
Under their deal, the two sides will make full use of their experiences in content, channels, resources and technology, aiming to provide more premium, self-made content for their users. Specifically, they have reached in-depth agreements in terms of news, insights, live broadcasts, short-formed videos and self-made programmes.
As Zeng Gang, Vice President of PP Sports said, the cooperation with Xinhua marks their expansion in the content market. Striving to turn itself into China’s No.1 football platform, PP Sports plans to build a team of up to 1,000 employees with a mission to display the joy, entertainment and professional sides of the World Cup.
Chu Xuejun, Director of News and Information Center at Xinhua, remarked that this move is also an important attempt for them. As sports reports are one of the most popular news areas, the news agency is expected to help PP Sports establish their sports program system by using Xinhua’s expertise in international event reporting, comprehensive sports and sports images.
