Hebei Province Governor Xu Qin met with Finland Ambassador Jarno Syrjl and his team on May 7 in Hebei Province, to discuss collaborations on winter sports and the establishment of a China-Finland winter sports industry base.
Hebei Province is home to Zhangjiakou, the co-host city of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and is dedicated to developing winter sports.
Governor Xu Qin expressed the hope that Finland and Hebei can strengthen collaboration in areas such as hosting sporting events, training sports talents, winter sports equipment R&D and production. He also looked forward to further discussions on the establishment of a China-Finland winter sports industry base in Zhangjiakou. He suggested that the two parties form a joint working group, facilitating the creation of a China-Finland industry park, to promote collaborations in areas such as education, tourism and industry design.
The governor also encouraged Finland to participate in the building of Xiongan New Area, the Special Economic Zone which is also located in the province.
The Finland ambassador Jarno Syrjl agreed with the future directions and plans both parties would take. According to his speech, close to 30 Finnish companies based in construction, energy, technology and other fields came along on this visit to hold talks with 24 Hebei companies.
