The Beijing News has reported that the Ministry of Education (MOE) launched a student-oriented Olympic Education Plan on February 27, 2018, in conjunction with the General Administration of Sport of China and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
According to the Plan, Chinese primary and middle schools will feature an Olympic Education program in their curriculums. Schools in northern China who are capable of delivering winter sports courses should offer this program to their students, while schools in southern China are being encouraged to partner with local winter sports facilities and clubs.
The three authorities have also planned to compile a guide book for those schools regarding implementing the Olympic Education plan. Textbooks for students, including basic knowledge of the Winter Olympic Games and a guidebook regarding the official programs of` Beijing 2022, will also be published by these authorities.
Every provinces and municipalities of China are also be encouraged to develop their local schools as the “Beijing 2022 Olympic Education Demonstration Schools” and the total amount of those schools are planned as 700, including 200 in Beijing and 200 in Hebei Province.
Meanwhile, the three authorities are also encouraging all Chinese provinces and municipalities to introduce a winter sports education curriculum into 2,000 primary and middle schools by 2020 rising to 5,000 by 2025.
