The Chinese Olympic sponsor Alibaba has signed a technological partnership agreement with China International Television Corporation (CITVC). The two sides will work together in terms of cloud platform, big data, Mobile Client and the information platform and other related areas.
Alibaba became an Olympic TOP partner in January 2017. This historic long-term partnership through 2028, makes Alibaba the official “Cloud Services” and “E-Commerce Platform Services” Partner, as well as a Founding Partner of the Olympic Channel. Given this background, this new partnership with CITVC seems to be understandable as Alibaba moves to enhance, explore and experience its relevant technology capability and footprint.
In terms of the partnership on the cloud platform, the two sides will co-found a team to establish a ‘hybrid cloud’ platform, in order to enhance the distribution capacity of content both in China and in overseas regions.
In terms of the big data partnership, the two parties will jointly develop big data application technology. Meanwhile, they will also work together to analyze the viewing behavior of audiences who use multiple devices and the bid data for advertisements.
Regarding the partnership in Mobile Client, CITVC and Alibaba will jointly set up a team or a company to develop Mobile Clients. Moreover, they will work together in terms of AI, philanthropic advertising and the advertisement of ‘New Media’.
Founded in 1984, China International Television Corporation (CITVC) is a large state-owned enterprise wholly funded by China Central Television (CCTV).
Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a Chinese multinational e-commerce, retail, Internet, AI and technology conglomerate founded in 1999 that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals, as well as electronic payment services, shopping search engines and cloud computing services.
