The WTA Finals at the end of October brought an end to a thrilling 2014 for
the WTA Tour. Li Na, Chinese tennis player ranked the top candidates for WTA
Player of the Year on November 15.
As with the men’s side on the ATP, the four Grand Slams were split among four players, always a sign of healthy competition.
Unlike the men’s side, however, there were no new Slam winners: Li Na (Australian Open), now retired, and Petra Kvitova (Wimbledon) both won their second, while Maria Sharapova (French Open) won her fifth.
There is never a Chinese player won the Player of Year, and it would be a miracle if retired Li Na still wins.
Li Na won two Slams in her career,2011 in France and 2014 in Australia. She claimed to retire because of injury in September ,2014.
