On the eve of the opening match of the 2018/2019 Chinese Super League (CSL) which kicks off on March 2, the Suning-backed media platform PPTV has confirmed it will remain as the exclusive “New Media Partner” of the league for the upcoming new season.
As CRI Online, a news website owned by China Radio International, have reported, PPTV will stream CSL matches across its internet-based broadcasting platforms, such as its PPTV website and App, PPTV Sports website and App, longzhu.com and CIBN Sports, a sports broadcasting platform installed on smart TVs.
Another important factor emphasized by PPTV is that PPTV users can watch the matches on PCs, mobile devices and smart TVs via one single PPTV account.
Meanwhile, highlights and some original content will feature on around 1,000 outdoor LED screens, owned by PPTV’s parent company Suning Group and set up in cities around China.
To deliver a better experience to CSL fans, PPTV have gathered a group of top commentators for its CSL broadcasts, including Huang Jianxiang, Zhan Jun and Dong Lu. This season, PPTV have also invited some commentators who are popular in certain regions in China to satisfy local fans, including Dalian-based Jiao Yanfeng and Jiangsu-based Li Weiqi.
PPTV is a Chinese video streaming website founded in 2005 and acquired by Suning Group in 2015. In March 2017, Suning Sports took over the media rights to broadcast the CSL on its online video platforms.
Starting from May 2015, Suning Sports has acquired a series of exclusive media rights in football properties, including the Spanish La Liga, the English Premier League, the AFC Champions League and the CSL.
