As reported by Sina Technology, the Chinese mobile gaming live streaming platform chushou.tv has raised RMB 500m in its new financing round, with Google as the lead investor.
Media reports had presumed that Google would make a return to the Chinese market. In fact, prior to this investment, Google had announced in early December that they had set up Google AI China Center.
chushou.tv is the first ever live streaming platform specializing in mobile game broadcasting, with its live streaming programs covering popular mobile games such as King of Glory, Fight for Freedom and Cross Fire. In 2016, the platform raised 20 million dollars and RMB 400 million in April and December respectively.
Up to July, 2016, chushou.tv’s DAU had been over 7 million. Earlier this year, the Chinese singer Zhang Yixing, a chushou.tv ambassador conducted a live streaming program on the platform attracting over 20 million viewers for the 3.5-hour program.
