December 20, Lausanne: The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has announced that Zhejiang Province, China, would be the hosts for the next two editions (2018, 2019) of FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship.
China follows Brazil (1991,1994), Italy (1992), Japan (2017), Qatar (2010, 2011, 2012), Switzerland (2013, 2014, 2015) and the Philippines (2016) as the host country of this premier volleyball tournament in 2018. Chinese media reports had also predicted that Ningbo, Zhejiang Province would be the host city for two editions of the tournament.
Over the past years, Ningbo has organized many volleyball events, ranging from the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix to the nationwide amateur volleyball league in China. Another important reason is that Team China’s Womens National Volleyball squad’s training base containing the most up-to-date facilities is also located in Beilun District, Ningbo.
At the signing ceremony, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° expressed his expectations for China and the volleyball family worldwide in hosting this event. Sun Guangming, the chairman of Zhejiang Sports Bureau, also thanked the FIVB for giving Zhejiang this fantastic opportunity to host the tournament and was confident that Zhejiang Province would host an incredibly successful volleyball event.
