Jiangsu Province is planning to set up a tri-level sports industry that covers provinces, cities and counties by the year 2025, according to a recent industry summit.
In the first stage of the plan, the eastern-central coastal provinces of China will become home to more than 50% sports service complexes in its cities with subordinate districts and some counties in Southern Jiangsu by 2020.
Director of the Jiangsu Sports Industry Advising Center, Wang Feng, said that Jiangsu Province has plans to complete the construction of about 40 sports service complexes by 2020, and will reach more than 100 by 2025.
Chen Gang, head of Jiangsu Sports Bureau, sees the construction of sports service complexes as an innovation, something that will be very beneficial to further the development of theme parks, sports tourism and sports culture in the province.
The sports governing bodies from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui have also signed a partnership to grow the sports industry in China’s Yangtze River Delta region.
