December 16: As the 2022 Olympic Winter Games inches closer, the Beijing Organizing Committee (BOC) of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games has started a test marketing campaign for Beijing 2022’s official merchandise, which will continue until June 30, 2018.
Reportedly, this 6-month campaign is aimed at finding out consumers’ demands and the expected prices of the Beijing 2022’s official merchandise. Based on the results found in this campaign, the BOC can make position the merchandise properly in the market prior to their official sale in July, 2018.
Currently, there are six types of merchandise featuring in the test marketing campaign, including non-precious metal products (such as pin badges and key chains), precious metal products, Beijing 2022 branded clothes & accessories, stationery, ceramic products and stamps. The only exclusive place where consumers can buy these merchandise now is on Alibaba’s online shopping platform, T-mall which is the only official online shop opened by the BOC.
In January 2018, a dozen or so official stores for these test marketing merchandise will also be opened in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Shijiazhuang.
