December 2: Filipino professional boxer, Manny Pacquiao, is looking to set up a boxing academy in China, as a part of his partnership with Beijing-based Dancing Sports.
The boxing legend has officially launched the Manny Pacquiao International Boxing Academy at a signing ceremony at Diaoyutai Hotel in Beijing, with the goal of sharing his experience that has led him to win eight world titles.
According to Zhou Wenxin, President of Dancing Sports, this partnership is based on their close ties with Manny Pacquiao at the end of September, when they co-hosted a pre-match at the Chinese and Philippine Sports Cooperation Forum and the ‘B&R’ World Boxing Champion Tour (Beijing).
The new deal will see the two sides cooperate on the ‘B&R’ professional boxing events, Pacquiao agency businesses in China and the international boxing academy.
As Chinese media have reported, this move is expected to change the boxing landscape in the world’s most populous country.
